Just as ABC’s pilot episode of Secrets & Lies wraps production in Wilmington, North Carolina, the new Nikki Toscano-produced drama Red Zone started filming in the city yesterday.
Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace) stars in Red Zone as Holden Weller, a retired CIA operative and intense high school football coach/athletic director who is pulled back into action when a terrorist event rocks Washington, D.C., forced to investigate closer to home where the next generation of terrorists is being bred.
Returning to North Carolina after his time in Wilmington during the first season of Revolution, Graham Rogers plays Jake, an all-American teenager and second-string quarterback who has a special bond with Coach Weller.
Aimee Garcia (Dexter) has been cast as Vera Bradley, “a whip-smart, driven, and impatient case officer with the CIA’s Counter-Terrorism department”, while Shanley Caswell (The Conjuring) is Holden Weller’s daughter, a cute but slightly awkward teenager with a lively interest in world affairs.
From the official synopsis: When a terrorist event rocks Washington, D.C., a retired CIA operative is pulled back into action, forced to investigate closer to home where the next generation of terrorists are being bred.
The pilot episode will be written by Nikki Toscano (Revenge) and executive produced by Toscano and Kerry Ehrin (Bates Motel).
